From the footbath to rinse your feet after a stroll on the beach, to the towel origami left every night in my children’s room – attention to detail does not get better than this. The layout of the island makes you feel like the place is half empty, the staff make you believe that you are their most important guest. You can do as much or as little as you like, boredom is definitely not a problem for the more active – everything is available from snorkeling trips to windsurfing and deep sea fishing, with staff that are as good with kids who see their first shark as they are with honeymooners looking for a romantic trip to a sandbank. The food was extraordinary. The Japanese restaurant was a firm favourite with the whole family, competing in quality, service and knowledge with the best in London. Breakfast and lunch had delicious healthy options so that you could partake in crepes and doughnuts by the pool in the afternoon with a clear conscience. It is not cheap by any standards – but it is truly one of the best hotels and locations in the world
